Baseball Jacket

Baseball jacket covers the gap between a jersey and a coat: it closes over a hoodie, keeps the print on the outside, and looks like it belongs at a game. The body is printed all over before the panels are cut, so artwork runs across the sleeves and the back as one piece.

Custom Baseball Jackets – Varsity Shape, Printed Panels

What the jacket looks like

The body sits in a varsity cut, with a rib-knit collar, rib-knit cuffs and a rib-knit hem that frame the printed panels. Those trims take their own colour, so the collar and hem can sit in contrast to the body instead of disappearing into it. Snaps run down the front and close with one hand. Thread is black or white, chosen to sit against the main colour of the design rather than clash with it.

What makes it easy to wear

Snaps beat a zip when you are pulling a jacket on over a hoodie in a car park — nothing to line up, nothing to catch. The rib-knit cuffs stay at the wrist instead of sliding down over the hand, and the hem keeps its shape when the jacket is pulled off and shoved in a bag. It goes in the machine like anything else.

How it sits

The body is cut straight rather than shaped at the waist, which leaves room for a hoodie underneath without the jacket pulling across the back. The shoulder drops slightly past the natural line, and the hem lands at the hip. Worn open over a t-shirt it reads light; closed over a hoodie in January it does the job of a coat on the walk in.

Fabric and print

The body is a 97% polyester, 3% spandex blend at 250 GSM, backed with fleece and built with four-way stretch, so it moves with the shoulders instead of fighting them. Collar, cuffs and hem are a heavier rib-knit at 280 GSM — the part that takes the most wear. Colour is heat-set into the fabric through all-over sublimation, which means the print sits in the material rather than on top of it and does not stiffen the panels.

Care

  • Machine wash cold, inside out.
  • No fabric softener.
  • Hang to dry; skip the dryer.
  • Iron on the reverse only, never on the print.

When it gets worn

Cold bleachers in October, the walk from the car when the wind cuts across the lot, Friday nights when the game runs past dark. It is outerwear first and merchandise second, which is the only reason a jacket gets worn more than twice.
